Arguably far from being the "toy" keyboard brand it is sometimes perceived to be, Casio is back in market again with a funky vengeance with the new XW-P1 and XW-G1 synths.
The proof is always in the playing and it's hard to tell how good these keyboards may be without actually getting in front of one. However from the images and material on the Casio website, it's hard not to feel that the likeness to a drawbar organ is a little overblown given the tiny size of the sliders on the interface! In the video below you'll see that the "drawbars" appear to be around twice the size of a fingernail - not exactly a large surface to enable accurate or subtle variations.
It's also hard to take a "pro" level keyboard seriously when it it's minuscule knobs and sliders are complemented by battery power! But for a fun and portable synth solution, it could be a good one. Check out the video below for a further intro.
