The article discusses a particular course called Wombsong. Among other advantages, attendees claim that singing helps the mum-to-be to relax and bond with their unborn child, as singing helps the baby recognise the mother’s voice.
While my wife was pregnant with our son we attended concerts by Glen Hansard, Dream Theater, John Farnham, James Morrison, Emma Pask, The Whitlams and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Possibly others I've forgotten (The Proclaimers and The B-52's don't count as my wife wasn't there, though I probably returned home singing loudly...!). A great musical time in utero.
Now, as an expecting father for the second time, this article is quite timely. I've written previously of my keenness to surround my son with music, and indulge his curiosity with music and listening (see "A Fascination With Music is to be Indulged, not Forgotten").
Long will it continue.
